RoboCup 2008 Suzhou was held in Suzhou International Expo Centre during 16 to 20 July. This is the first time for China to host the high-tech sports event. 1,400 participants of more than 300 teams from 30 countries of the world came for the games and the symposium held in conjunction. The competition consists of RoboCup Soccer, RoboCup Rescue, RoboCup @ Home and RoboCup Junior, all sports games are participated by robots.
RoboCup is an international joint project to promote AI (Artificial Intelligence), robotics, and related field. RoboCup chose to use soccer as a central topic of research, aiming at innovations to be applied for socially significant problems and industries.
