This year's Summer Job Fair, one of the major recruitment fairs of Suzhou, was convened on 23 July. 176 employers came on the day for new faces, which included 16 state-owned enterprises, 34 private companies, 39 foreign-invested companies and 32 others.
The 121 undertakings offered 2,204 jobs in total. Diploma speaking, they needed seven masters, 597 bachelors, 1,099 junior college graduates and 501 graduated from technical secondary school. In regards to major, marketing was the most-wanted by 317 posts, machinery followed by 212 jobs, and management was third. The other popular majors welcomed by employers were finance, electronics, computer, electric automatization, architecture, economy research and foreign languages. There were around 5,000 job seekers who showed up on the day looking for a career.
This year's employment season began early long before the Spring Job Fair held in Feburuary. Companies were even invited to universities to meet the students months before they graduate. Plus the job fairs organized by the counties, the year has seen hundreds of recruitment fairs in Suzhou. However, "It seems my resume could go nowhere," complained a graduate of the Application Department, Soochow University. He said he has been hustling from job fair to job fair these past six months.
